Alexander Studio
The MacDowell Colony
The quality of light in winter drew me to New Hampshire, informing my work at the MacDowell Colony. The walks through the birch trees, and the sounds of the forest in the snow were part of my creative process. In the Alexander Studio, a replica of a 17-century Swiss chapel constructed of thick granite bricks, I created two site-specific pieces and seven cut-paper wall pieces with paper tape-throughout sensing the artists who had come before me-their beginnings, their work and lives, their endings.
